In addition to the traditional topics of glass machining and refining, the primary focus of glass technology live will be on climate protection and energy efficiency.  Spanning a range of materials and disciplines, this will incorporate the display and presentation of the newest products, technology and trends, together with the outcome of the latest research projects.

Alongside multi-functional glass, coatings and innovative glass design techniques, glass technology live will also embrace topics such as heat insulation, sun protection, photo-voltaics and solar thermal applications.  The special exhibition will also feature the most recent developments and application possibilities in relation to insulating glass, windows and facades, as well as a wealth of innovations for energy-efficient and integrative building envelopes.

Complementing the special display will be a specialist symposium with high-calibre lectures and presentations by practical exponents as well as individuals working in the field of research, plus the architectural congress first held at glasstec 2006 when around 500 architects participated in the event prior to visiting the exhibition.  This highly successful congress is scheduled to make a repeat appearance at glasstec 2008.
