Special Show: glass technology live

Sustainability and energy efficiency are key terms that represent the central challenges of our time. Therefore, the special show‚ glass technology live‘ deals with these topics. Potentials and solutions with glass as a construction material will be presented under the title Energy Efficiency with Glass. The energy-efficient manufacture, processing, and finishing of glass will be shown.

A wide variety of exhibits will present the latest developments and technologies in the fields of photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, and summer and winter heat insulation. The focus is on the most up-to-date and highest-performing thin film solar cells, glass with multi-functional coatings, and especially efficient vacuum and insulating glass.

Along with the specific properties of innovative products, special attention will also be paid to their design and application potentials, particularly in building envelopes.

Beyond component-specific solutions for the roof and facade, a variety of trend-setting facade constructions will be demonstrated with the help of mock-ups or large-scale models. Energy-optimised facades which architecturally integrate the latest solar technology, glazing, or ventilation systems and envelope constructions which demonstrate the possible uses of glass will be showcased.

As in previous years, the special exhibition has been conceived and designed by Prof. Stefan Behling and his team at the Institut für Baukonstruktion (Institute for Building Construction) at the University of Stuttgart.
