Solar at glasstec 2008
Glass is the connecting element or common denominator, which is currently the focus of attention not only for the solar energy industry. Glass equally connects the cell, module and primary product manufacturers, mechanical engineers and system integrators in the solar industry. Glass products and manufacturing technology are traditionally presented in close proximity to each other at glasstec. For this reason, as the world's leading trade fair in the area of glass technology, we have selected the area of photovoltaic and solar energy as the main theme.
At the last glasstec in 2006, 32% of German and 27% of foreign visitors showed particular interest in the main “Photovoltaic and solar energy” theme - with a rising tendency! The high internationality with a trade visitor share of 57% and exhibitor share of 67% produces an excellent market environment, enabling participants to globally position themselves in the PV Segment.
The mechanical and plant engineering segment traditionally presents innovative manufacturing techniques and production processes in actual operation thus providing the solar energy sector with key starting points for the long-term reduction of operational costs and securing of competitiveness.
In addition, the latest exhibits from impulse-generating companies will be presented at the “glass technology live” Special Show space of approx. 2,600 sq.m. in conjunction with a five-day conference event on the theme of "Glass and energy". Here, over 20 leading manufacturers and scientists from the area of photovoltaics and solar energy will present particularly future-orientated technologies and products. In addition, over 30 lectures will explore and explain the connections between energy and glass, e.g. solar-active building shells, solar energy technology and innovative coatings. In 2006 the conference/special show alone attracted around 4,500 trade visitors.
