Guardian float line under construction in Brazil
09/06/2008
Guardian Industries has launched the construction of a $130 million float glass manufacturing plant in Tatui, São Paulo, Brazil, with a ceremony attended by federal, state and local officials.
The plant, Guardian’s second in Brazil, is planned to be the largest glass manufacturing facility in South America, producing 800 tons of float glass per day and creating almost 300 direct new jobs. It will primarily supply the construction industry.
This second float line has been justified by increased customer demand. When deciding on a suitable location for the plant, Guardian was impressed by the sustainable development policies promoted by Tatui’s Mayor Gonzaga and São Paulo’s Governor Serra.
President of Guardian’s glass group, Russ Ebeid, said: “We especially thank the state of São Paulo and the municipality of Tatui for its warm welcome and concerted efforts on our behalf.”
