Simple bonding of glass and fittings

EKU Porta 40 GLK is designed for glass doors up to a weight of 40 kg and a glass thickness of 8 mm. The maximum size of the glass elements is 2200 mm (height) times 1000 mm (width).

At glasstec 2008, the Swiss company EKU AG presents a new glass bonding system that can be used to quickly and smoothly join fittings to sliding glass doors.
In general, bonding glass and fittings requires a high level of craftsmanship and a very precise procedure. Especially at the construction site, the bonding work inherits many risks, since the working conditions onsite are often less than optimal. At glasstec 2008, the Swiss specialists for sliding door fittings of EKU AG will present a new bonding system for their design fittings for sliding doors, EKU-Porta 40 GLK for wall installation. It is a system the company describes as easy and safe to use.
Bonding set includes all parts
One of the advantages of the new system: EKU delivers EKU Porta 40 GLK complete with fittings, track, profile, adhesive and all items required for processing in one set. Thus, the processor does not require any special tools or machines for the bonding of glass and fittings. In order to avoid mistakes in the process, each work step is described in a comprehensive installation manual with descriptive graphics.

The adhesive is pressed directly from the poly-urethane bag into the glass fixation profile and distributed evenly using the spatula included in the set.
Simple processing
The two-component adhesive required for bonding is included in sufficient quantity in a two-chamber bag. Before commencing work, a separator must be removed, and the two components are mixed together using the separator. Finally, the worker cuts off one corner of the bag and then presses the adhesive through the opening into the clean glass fixation profile, which must be free of dust and grease.
He does not need a glue cartridge or a glue gun. A conically shaped stick included in the set can be used to distribute the adhesive evenly. Afterwards, the glass door is inserted into the profile. The weight of the door itself generates the required pressure. The adhesive is hardened after 48 hours. Excess material can be removed using a knife, and the glass door can be inserted into the track. The sliding system of the 40 GLK is completely integrated into the round sliding rail. If necessary, the aluminium glass fixation profile can be easily cut to fit the size of the door.
Glass fittings at glasstec 2008
In addition to the Swiss company EKU AG (hall 10, stand B58), several other glass fittings manufacturers will present their innovations at glasstec 2008. It can be expected that the trend towards sophisticated and elaborate fittings continues. Fittings for glass structures have long since mutated from necessary installation components to eye catchers in their own right. Top-quality fittings are used as optically appealing components of the overall glass structure especially in the design of complete glass constructions for interior rooms. Whether this trend will continue in future can be seen at glasstec 2008.

The two components of the adhesive included in the delivery are separated by a rubber seal until processing time. After the rubber seal is removed, the adhesive components are mixed inside the bag.

The glass is pressed into the profile by its own weight. The adhesive is hardened after 48 hours.

After the adhesive has hardened, excess material is removed with a knife, and the glass door can be hung.

The glass fixation profile glued to the glass disappears in the sliding rail of the EKU Porta 40 GLK fitting system for sliding doors.
