New Laminated Glass with Natural Stone Interlayer

The appearance of natural stone is just as popular in facade construction as with the high-quality design of interiors. However, a disadvantage of some stone varieties is the cleaning of their surfaces. The new Floatstone, a laminated glass with integrated natural stone layer, solves this problem.

Saint-Gobain Deutsche Glas GmbH, an Aachen-based subsidiary of the French Saint-Gobain corporation, has launched a glass innovation on the market with the Floatstone, which opens up new design options to both architects and interior designers. The Floatstone is impressive with its visually imposing depth and has a strong optical effect due to the integrated natural stone layer. The product innovation, which was presented to the professional world in autumn 2009, is a laminated glass in line with BS EN ISO 12543 with circumferential edge protection. The three to ten millimetre thick natural stone layer is embedded between two glass panes, each with a minimum thickness of four millimetres.
