Aftermarket Service – Glasstech offers technical service and support to keep systems running at top performance levels. Automotive

Glasstech automotive systems are the products of inventive minds, creative thinking and innovative problem solving. Time and production have proven, beyond a doubt, that our equipment is the most rugged, dependable and versatile.

The first automotive system introduced by Glasstech was the Quick Sag bending and tempering system in 1979, which revolutionized the production of automotive glass with its simplicity and high productivity – and with higher quality made possible through technology that eliminated tong marks and the associated glass distortion.

Glasstech advanced the capability of the Quick Sag process in 1985 with the introduction of the Deep Bend 4™ process, which gave glass processors the ability to produce deep bend glass with small radius bends and high quality. And in 1991, Glasstech introduced its original CRB™ system, which provided the ability to process OEM-quality cylindrical parts without requiring part-dedicated tooling.

Glasstech further expanded its product range in 2000 with the introduction of the EPB-T™ system, which has established new industry standards for sidelite glass. EPB-T provides the capability to meet rigid Volkswagen/Audi quality standards in a high production system with low tooling costs. Glasstech’s most recent automotive system for windshield glass, EPB-L™, offers glass processors major advantages – greater productivity, economical tooling and much lower energy costs – compared to traditional methods of bending windshield glass for laminating.

Architectural

Glasstech architectural systems are renowned for producing everything from high performance coated glass to large, gracefully bent lites to tight radius tempered panels for creative interior designs.

The Glasstech ERH (electric radiant heater) continuous float glass tempering system was introduced in 1972 and soon became the workhorse of the high volume, high quality tempered glass industry. This was followed in 1974 by the revolutionary batch or oscillating roller hearth system, which permitted processors to install a system of modest overall size that would produce high volume products and change over rapidly from one glass to another.

Then, when Glasstech unveiled its FCH (forced convection heater) in 1992, the gas fired FCH established a new norm for rapid heating high performance reflective and Low-E glass. At the same time, Glasstech introduced new convection options for its existing ERH systems, to boost throughput and processing efficiency.

In 1989, Glasstech introduced the ABTS™ advanced bending and tempering system for architectural glass shapes. ABTS can produce everything from simple cylindrical bends and asymmetrical parts to graceful S curves and V bends. The system is extremely versatile and requires no part-dedicated tooling.

Glasstech further expanded its architectural glass bending and tempering system offerings with the introduction of the TRCB™ system in 1991. TRCB bends glass horizontally in a system which uses rollers and an easily expandable bending fixture. Today, Glasstech TRCB systems lead the industry in the production of glass for display cases and bent tempered shower enclosures.

Whether ERH or FCH, Glasstech systems have an excellent reputation for ruggedness, long life, high productivity, high process yield, low operating cost, ease of operation and reliability.

Today, Glasstech systems can be relied upon to produce the highest quality tempered glass whether pre-coated or for post-coating.

Glasstech-Developed Glass Evaluation Software

To ensure automotive customers get optimum performance from their Glasstech glass bending, tempering and annealing systems, Glasstech has developed two innovative, proprietary software products.

The AutoGlassInspector can be used online or in a laboratory setting to evaluate transmitted distortion in glass parts and measure sidelites, backlites and windshields. This is a computer-based system that checks to determine if a glass part meets all existing automotive standards.

The Shape Modeler™ software package lets processors analyze data to predict and determine how to produce the highest quality glass parts without cutting glass or using bending equipment.
