TAM-114 vial forming machine

After slowly developing quality consciousness and consequently quality assurance procedures and quality control department, now Ocmi India is working with new models and new design of forming machines.

The new indexing vial forming machine, called TAM-114, developed in close cooperation with OCMI-OTG Technical Department, represents the beginning of the new generation of vial forming machines intended to overcome limits of Indian market and explore new opportunities worldwide.

TAM-114 presents innovations in main mechanical, electronic and pneumatic components and new devices improving the tube processing in order to get the best final product also from the point of view of hydrolytic level.

The machine is controlled by Siemens touch screen while oil pump for forming tools lubrication and all pneumatic components are of European origin. A completely new piping and cabling was realized with particular attention to the safety conditions.

The new lubrication system allows oil to be sprayed from the inner side of the mouth forming plunger with consequent cleaner working conditions.

Mechanical improvements were applied in critical operations like glass tube bursting and cutting where smokes produced during these operations must be removed as much as possible from tube internal surface. This is why movable internal and external cutting burners and movable bursting burner as well were developed in order to minimize the time of flame action on glass and keep alkalinity within acceptable limits.

Among other new features, TAM-114 machine was also adapted for the connection with automatic loader ROBOGLASS and for the installation of last generation camera inspection system OPTIVIAL for dimensional control, the same developed for all other OCMI European forming machines.

A new after-forming line has been designed purposely for two indexing machines TAM-114 with important innovations especially linked to vial transportation inside annealing lehr. Standard configuration of this new line model LF-516/114 will include two forming machines to get a total output of about 3.800 pcs/hour.

FLA-35

Continuous-action rotary machine with 35 spindles for vials forming from glass tube with diameters from 8 mm to 33 mm.

Base
Houses the machine body and gripper rotation motors and the lubrication pumps. The oil tank and filters are fitted on the upper part of the base.

Main body
Houses the 35 upper and 35 lower cast iron sections, which can be aligned separately. The upper sections house double grippers with a passage space of 35 mm, for the efficient clamping of the glass tube. The lower section grippers are mounted on spindles that slide on ball bushings.

Burners
Fitted around the main body, with the movement linked to the gripper movement. Can be adjusted radially and in height. The return action is controlled by springs and vibration dampers.

Forming section
The machine has four vial forming toolholders. The first three, mounted on a burner casing moved by the grippers and working with a roller and punch, pre-form the mouth and shoulders and prepare the glass for the final forming operation. The final forming station is installed at the side of the machine and can be opened for maintenance access. It consists of a caterpillar-type carriage on which seven independent tools rotate, driven by a chain, each tool having two rollers and a plug. The section is electronically synchronised with the machine movement and contains all the tool lubrication and cooling systems.

an electronic synchronisation card
an electronic cam programmer for the automatic management of the work cycle.

A PLC controlling the following operations:
first burner movement
economizer platform for the first piece of each new glasstube
temporary stopping of work cycleand in-phase restart
automatic loading operation
unloading of the first glass tube piece in separate position
control of the lubrication frequency and quantity

Forming section
The machine has three vial forming toolholders. The final forming station has two independent carriages and is electronically synchronised with the machine movement by a CNC axis that controls the working position and angle in relation to pre-set production rate and forming times. Each forming carriage, fitted with two rollers and a punch, is driven by a brushless motor with CNC.

The following working parameters can be set with the software:

detach speed

The parameters can be changed and stored on the control panel. The station can be opened for maintenance access.

The control panel contains:

FA-36S

Continuous-action rotary machine with 36 vertical spindles for ampoules forming from glass tube able to produce automatically the first bottom of every new glass tube in order to increase the production efficiency.

Base
Houses the spindle rotation motors, machine body, central lubrication pump and oil tank. The spindle cams and transmission systems are mounted on the base.

Rotor
Fitted on a central shaft with preloaded cone bearings; planetary-type movement by means of two gears driven by separate motors, allowing independent rotation speeds of rotor and spindles. The spindle-holder sections are installed on the rotor.

Spindle-holder sections
Made of cast iron, with each section housing two spindles with associated gears and roller bearings; each of the lower sections houses two spindles that move vertically on re-circulating ball guides with oil-bath lubrication.

Burners
Fitted on four independent sections with individual height adjustment. Each burner has radial polar and height adjustment functions and is fed from a gas, air and oxygen mixer. The burners are moved by the upper grippers and have return springs with vibration dampers.

The machine is equipped with:
