It is important for the bending of LSG-panes for the automotive industry that the panes do not have any optical failures after the lamination process. For this reason the panes which are designated for bending as pairs or as multilayer get oncemore soften in the bending oven at temperatures between 500°C and 650°C.

For this bending process, a specific interleaving powder is applied to avoid that the panes stick together and to enable the separating of the sheets again after bending.

It is important to use a product which supports an almost regular distance between the single sheets. The powder should be free of coarse particles as such would result in (interfering) lenses.

Our interleaving powder series eskal – based on the temperature resistant calicum carbonate – is established worldwide as standard.

The powders of the series eskal have an excellent particle size distribution and fluidity. The particles adhere reliably on the glass surface and can be washed-off without any problems after the bending process.

Especially in the dry application with EPS-Application systems, our powder eskal has proven itsself. But it is suitable for wet application as well.

Due to an extremely narrow particle size distribution (fine and coarse particles are almost eleminated) an regular distance between the complete glass surface is ensured. This reduces the failure rate because of optical failures.

esplas / esbal

In order to transport or store flatglass or floatglass, a separating medium must be applied between the panes to prevent the glass sheets from blocking due to adhesion forces. Only in this way can the panes be easily separated for subsequent production processes. 

The interleaving powder series esplas and esbal are developed especially for powdering in the flatglass or floatglass line. 

The basis for the powder series esplas is polymethyl metacrylate (PMMA) or polyethylene (PE). Thanks to a specific production process, the particles have a unique grain structure. The irregular shape of the particles affects the gliding effect of the panes and favours excellent adhesion of the particles on the pane.
The basis for the powder series esbal are polymethyl metacrylate (PMMA) beads. 

Glass surfaces may corrode during transport or storage. In order to counteract this, if necessary, specific agents can be added to the polymer particles. Depending on climatic conditions, such additions can range between 10 and 50%. 

The particle size distribution is also important for effective powder application. Powders with an average particle size of approx. 60, 80, 130 or approx. 150 µm have proved successful. The powders with lower particle diameter offer some advantages due to better adhesion. 

Different particle shapes also influence the diverse fields of application. 

This results in a variety of different products. We support our customers in identifying the products which are best suited for their field of application.

esstar plus

The powders of our series esstar plus are made of premium native starches. This renewable raw material offers the advantage of almost spherical and soft particles. Because of an extremely narrow particle size distribution, our powders can be applied with smallest formation of dust. The powders offer an excellent distribution characteristic on the pane. The application with EPS-application systems is easy and the adhesion of the particles on the glass excellent. Even with roller application systems working with static loading a regular distribution is possible.

Especially when coated glass has to be separated, round and soft particles are of advantage as spacer. The coated glass surface will be prevented from damage and scratches can be avoided.

This property is helpful as well for the separation of mirror glass.esstar plus adheres well on the coating surface of the mirror, without pressing into the not fully hardened coating film.

As the powder is temperature resistant up to approx. 150°C it can be used as well in the laminating process of LSG in the autoclave.

The powder can be used very economically with smallest formation of dust because of a very small amount of fine particles.
