Scheuten, specialists in the development and production of high-quality glass products, has been commissioned by Lakesmere Ltd. Hampshire to supply 125 Optisol modules with a total output of around 72 kWp. In addition, Scheuten will see to the engineering, supply and fitting of the steel supporting structure.
Scheuten Absoluut Glastechniek, Scheuten's project implementation department, will be implementing this turnkey project. A project that entails extreme structural tolerances in terms of dimensions and special mounting structures. Lakesmere awarded the project to Scheuten due to their engineering expertise and the fact that they were able to offer a total solution for the entire project.
Within the compass of this project, Frijns Metaalwerken will be producing the metal supporting structure for the Optisol panels on the existing frames. The first panels were manufactured in April 2013, the modules and the steel were delivered in London in May. The fitting process will be complete by the end of August at the latest.
“Scheuten is always looking for new uses for our products”, says Tom van der Heijden, Project Manager Scheuten Absoluut Glastechniek. “We integrate glass and solar power to form a single, sustainable concept. This awning is the perfect example of such a concept.”
