Within the scope of the world’s leading trade fair “glasstec“, the special show glass technology live, attended by specialists, architects and those interested in the material glass, has been taken place for years now. It is affiliated to an international specialist symposium.
Meanwhile, as a forum for glass and facade applications, the special show has become one of the most important pacesetters of the international glass industry. The latest product developments and innovations from research and practice are presented here.
As in previous years, conception and organisation are undertaken by the Institute of Building Construction, Chair 2, of the University of Stuttgart, under the patronage of Professor Stefan Behling, Senior Executive Partner from the office of Foster + Partners.
The focal point of glass technology live 2016 is glass of the future. Presented will be, amongst others, innovations in the area of the application of glass in the building envelope, interactive glass, new glass products and the latest research topics.
The special show is structured into the thematically subdivided areas of shape, performance and integration. The various exhibits and mock-ups, according to their materiality, function and design, are then in turn assigned to these areas.
Intelligent glass with adaptive properties that can adjust to different light conditions (electrochromic glass), interactive glass as carrier medium of information and electronics (head-up displays and smart home functions) and glass with special properties (innovative coatings, self-luminous glass etc.) form a focal point of this year’s glass technology live.
Further themes in the spotlight are:
Multifunctional sensor glass
High-quality glass printing
Animated media facades
New production and manufacturing processes
Glass technologies in the area of solar thermal energy and photovoltaics
International specialist symposium
The special show will be complemented by an accompanying specialist symposium with high-calibre lectures and presentations by researchers and practitioners.
Well-known representatives from the glass industry as well as from architecture and science show the diversity of the material glass. Highly topical projects, partly still under construction, will be presented here.
