Due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated worldwide lockdown measures, Messe Düsseldorf decided to cancel glasstec, which had already been postponed from 2020 to 2021 and was scheduled to take place from 15 to 18 June 2021. The current level of infection and the associated international lockdown restrictions make a resumption of trade fair operations in mid-June appear increasingly unrealistic. Especially as a result of the travel restrictions, glasstec with its high percentage of international exhibitors and visitors would not be able to live up to its standing as the world’s leading trade fair for the glass industry.
We have re-evaluated the situation with our partners and jointly decided on an early cancellation of glasstec, which had already been postponed from 2020 to 2021. Our priority is the health of our exhibitors, visitors and service providers and providing them with planning certainty. All activities will now be focused on the successful staging of glasstec 2022.

Who can guarantee that glasstec will be able to take place at its next date from 20 to 23 September 2022?
The developing situation regarding vaccinations and the associated statements, for example by the Robert Koch Institute, lead us to expect that the peak of the pandemic will be overcome by mid-2021. This means that we can hope for a return to personal contacts and a trade fair with distance.
Why doesn't glasstec take place virtually?
The associations and exhibitors voted clearly in favour of glasstec as a in-person event, as it offers an opportunity to show customers machines and systems in operation and to hold personal discussions. With glasstec VIRTUAL, in October 2020, exhibitors and visitors were able to test a purely digital offering. For glasstec 2022, work is already underway on a hybrid trade fair experience that will enable the face-to-face event through digital participation in events, web sessions and individual conferences.
Exhibitors and visitors can continue to find out about the latest news from the industry as well as trends and product innovations on our online platforms. The exhibitor database for glasstec June 2021 will remain online and accessible until admission to glasstec 2022.
What do you do with the registrations that have already been confirmed?
All agreements regarding stand planning and trade fair participation for 2021 are hereby null and void. Exhibitors will not be charged any costs by Messe Düsseldorf. glasstec 2022 will start with the registration portal for interested companies in June this year.
We have withdrawn before the cancellation. Do we still have to pay the cancellation fee?
Yes, the fee of EUR 1,950.00 is due if you withdraw from your trade fair participation before the announcement of the postponement or cancellation of glasstec. If you register for and participate in glasstec 2022, we will offset the cancellation fee against your participation fee. The fee will be deducted from the invoice for glasstec 2022.
What can exhibitors do who have already withdrawn and now want to register again for the new dates in 2022?

Do you compensate your customers for costs incurred so far due to booked flight and train tickets, hotel accommodation, etc.?
We understand the difficult situation resulting from the cancellation. Please contact the respective provider to clarify open questions and find solutions. We are unable to provide any information on customers' contracts with third-party providers, as these were not entered into with Messe Düsseldorf.
Do you compensate your customers for costs incurred so far due to OOS services booked with official trade fair service partners?
We provide the technical sales platform for our official trade fair service partners with the OOS. Customers conclude the contracts with these partners and must clarify any cancellation directly with them.
Will exhibitors get the same stand space at the next event?
Hall planning for glasstec 2022 is expected to start in December 2021. All positions will be reallocated for glasstec 2022.
