AGC Flat Glass North America and Asahi Glass, Tokyo Inc. has filed a silicon thin film deposition patent regarding photovoltaic device applications with inventors being Christopher Cording, Matthew Spencer and Kunio Masumo, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The film's on-line pyrolytic deposition methods can be applied to the float glass production process. The abstract states the invention, "relates generally to silicon based thin film deposition for use in photovoltaic (PV) devices and methods of making the same. More particularly, the invention relates to improved methods for increasing the efficiency of the deposition of silicon based thin films on photovoltaic substrates."
