Decarbonization: What companies should know about it
Decarbonization: What companies should know about it
What is decarbonization?
Decarbonization is the term for the process of eliminating or reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from a country's economy. This is done by reducing the CO2 emissions of companies in the active sectors of that country's economy.
Why is decarbonization important?
Currently, many sectors-industrial, residential, and transportation-are largely powered by fossil fuels, meaning their energy comes from burning fuels such as coal, oil, or gas.
The CO2 released from the use of these fuels acts as a greenhouse gas, trapping heat and contributing to global warming. By using alternative energy sources, industry can reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and help slow the effects of climate change.
