The Bundesverband Glasindustrie e.V. (BV Glas) is disappointed with the electricity price package published today by the German government.
As 97 percent of the glass industry's products are not on the electricity price compensation list, but its continuation will be one of the main measures to relieve the burden on energy-intensive companies, this step completely misses their needs
BV-Glas President Dr. Frank Heinricht is dissatisfied: "We had hoped that the Federal Government would finally commit to a bridge electricity price for energy-intensive industry. We are not benefiting in any way from the extension of electricity price compensation. Even the reduction in the electricity tax, which is welcome in principle, will not really help our member companies that compete internationally."
In recent weeks, BV Glas has repeatedly campaigned for a bridge electricity price and has also been involved in the Alliance for a Bridge Electricity Price, which includes trade associations and trade unions. "We have repeatedly made it clear how important the bridge electricity price is for maintaining our competitiveness and transforming the glass industry by 2045. We are therefore very surprised that so little attention has been paid to the energy-intensive industries and that decisions have been made that completely ignore their needs."
