Start-Up Zone at glasstec 2026: stage for young glass industry innovators

The glass industry is facing fundamental transformational challenges – which is why the use of AI & Digital Technologies, Decarbonisation and Circular Economy are the hot topics at glasstec 2026. In these areas in particular, new solutions often emerge not from established companies, but from start-up founders who are rethinking processes, materials or business models. The Start-Up Zone at glasstec provides a platform where these companies can showcase their work.

National and international companies no more than 5 years old, employing fewer than 20 staff and with an annual turnover of less than EUR 10 million are eligible to exhibit in the Start-Up Zone. The participation package at EUR 4,500 includes not only exhibition space for displaying exhibits but also a flat-rate media package for greater reach and more leads, as well as integration into glasstec’s communications and marketing activities. It also includes two exhibitor passes, 20 admission vouchers, power connection and Internet access.

In addition, Start-Up Zone exhibitors can also apply to give a lecture presentation at the glasstec conference. The Start-Up Sessions are accessible at no charge for all trade fair visitors. This format therefore brings together start-ups with the trade audience at their own stands but also introduces them to the broad-based audience of industry decision-makers as well as representatives from business, research and political spheres. Target groups include mechanical and plant engineering, manufacturing, processing and finishing, architecture and construction, windows and façades as well as energy and environment.

What makes glasstec stand out as a platform, also benefits start-ups: the last edition of the world-leading trade fair registered 1,257 exhibitors from 49 countries and 32,023 visitors from 126 countries. In addition to the Start-Up Zone there is another participation format for young companies headquartered in Germany: the BMWE YOUNG INNOVATORS joint stand. The grant scheme by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy covers up to 60% of the stand and construction expenses, thereby lowering the financial barrier to an appearance at this leading international trade fair substantially. Companies participating in either of the two formats all benefit from the lecture slots at the glasstec conference and early involvement in trade fair communications.
