glass technology live is probably the most fascinating special show of glasstec and a barometer of innovative power at the same time. It is an absolute highlight and a top attraction. The glasstec conference delivers high-calibre, cross-industry lectures held by leading experts on amongst others the three Hot Topics “Digital Technologies”, “Decarbonisation” and “Circular Economy”. And at the glass art exhibition various galleries and artists will showcase their extraordinary artworks and genuine craftsmanship.

Glance into the future – glass technology live
Also highly anticipated in 2024 again will be glass technology live. Established for years now, this highlight presents latest product developments and genuine innovations from research and practice. Many of them will be on display for the first time at glasstec. “Premiere fever” is therefore guaranteed. On show will be top-notch developments from the areas of interactive facades and display glass, energy and performance, structural glass, solid glass, thin glass or hollow glass, to name but a few. In all of these segments the industry is faced with major challenges, be it digital technologies, the circular economy or decarbonisation. There is huge optimisation potential for companies and industries to tap into here. This glance into the future is organised by the university cluster of the four renowned technical universities of Darmstadt, Delft, Dresden and Bochum. This competence network again lives up to its ambition of providing impetus in forward-looking technologies.

Think-tank atmosphere – glasstec conference
Science, research and development flag up paths towards the future. At the glasstec conference the focus is on conveying this know-how through top-notch speakers. The resulting valuable discussions between experts and users work like a think tank for current challenges and solutions. The Hot Topics of glasstec 2024 focalise the pressing questions of our age: How will the glass industry succeed in changing over to new key technologies to meet the decarbonisation targets? How can further potential along the glass value chain be leveraged to reach complete circularity? And which digital technologies provide the sector with novel and useful impulses? After all, the digital transformation affects all segments – be it production, services or skilled crafts. In daily sessions experts will share their knowledge on glass production, processing and finishing but also on pioneering solutions for glass products and applications.
Trends and innovations, theory and practice: All of this comes care of the glasstec conference on all four days of glasstec in Hall 11. New to the programme are CircuClarity One and the glass melting pot.
- CircuClarity One: Glass has the opportunity to be a fully circular material. CircuClarity One will review empirically proven processes, pioneering products. Emphasis lies on authentic, evidence-based strategies, tailored for real-world applicability. Highlight 2024: the CircuClarity Award.
- Start-Up Sessions: Young companies will be presenting a wide range of innovative ideas. This is an excellent platform for networking and professional exchange.
- Handwerk Live: The growing variety of glass products for the building envelope and interior design opens up new sales potential for the glass processing trade. "Handwerk Live" presents products and applications live and hands-on.
- glass melting pot: The Session “glass melting pot – bringing together research and industry” offers a platform for researchers and industry partners to pitch and discuss their research ideas within a setting of international glass experts.
- glass trends session: The glass trends sessions bundles industry know-how from theory and practice and is set in the context of the three global trend themes. Every day, visitors to glasstec 2024 can find out about the latest developments and trends in the sessions.
- architecture forum: In cooperation with trade journal DETAIL and Prof. Dr. Ing. Jutta Albus, renowned international architectural offices present their projects with a focus on “Current Trends and Challenges in Architecture with Glass“.
