SPHINXGLASS

Sphinx Glass & PPG Industries First Seminar

Sphinx Glass in collaboration with PPG Industries hosted their first technical seminar on the latest coatings technology and the Green Building movement in Egypt at the Intercontinental City Stars in Cairo on June 9.

More than 60 glass professional attended the seminar to exchange ideas and experiences and also to get introduced to the latest glass coating performance and the latest products of Sphinx and PPG.

Mr. Mohamed Khattab, CEO of Sphinx Glass initiated the event by his welcome speech, and then PPG representatives William Klingensmith, Business Development director, and Patricia Athey, Energy Saving Glass Products Manager gave a lecture on how to choose the proper glass product to meet the desired performance, especially in a hot climate country like Egypt.

Mrs. Athey has also made a simulation of the Raya Plaza building, a world class corporate complex with international standards of office-design just delivered by Sphinx Glass on 6th of October city. The simulations showed that Solarban R100 glass on clear offers the best energy savings.

Looking at this finding in a broader context, it can be concluded that using high performance glass gives the building designers more flexibility in building shape and orientation without trading off energy efficiency and comfort.

Prof. Dr. Eng. Medhat Khorshid, representing the Egyptian Green Building Council had also a speech about the green building movement in Egypt and the efforts exerted to activate construction’s legislation and to spread the green building culture into the community.

The seminar aimed also to establish dialog between leading glass users, being the attendees from consultants, architects or glass processors and the glass manufacturers, being Sphinx Glass and PPG Industries, through a series of invited talks, discussions and break sessions.
