Showing awareness of planetary limitations, the glass industry is taking steps to offer innovative products that also demonstrate a responsible approach to the environment. The categories of reuse and recycling are further differentiated and show diverse potential, such as the reuse of insulating glass in existing buildings, the machine-assisted separation of glass laminates to reuse glass panes or the upgrading of used single-pane glazing with a silicone layer for use as facade cladding.
CircuClarity – an exhibition within the exhibition – features various processes and products that are created during the life cycle of glasses and glazing. They are arranged in the ideal shape of a circle as points that symbolise further development. The collection demonstrates ways to protect the climate and save resources, thus providing space for momentum in the industry that encourages and emphasises the need for upscaling.
The CircuClarity initiative consists of a diverse consortium of players – from material supply, float, processing, engineering, architecture and academia. The common mission is to disseminate knowledge and drive progress in the glass and facade industry to promote climate neutrality and circularity.
CircuClarity was founded in 2022 at glasstec by Lisa Rammig of Eckersley O'Callaghan and Linda Hildebrand of RWTH Aachen University. Martien Teich of Munich University of Applied Sciences, Michael Elstner of AGC Glass Europe / Glas Elstner and Enrico Cutri and Valérie Hayez of Dow were involved in putting together the project for glass technology live. The tubes were contributed by Schott.
