RetroSolar is presenting two exhibits in cooperation with Köster Lichtplanung at glasstec 2024. In the Smart Window, a daylight control system is installed behind an external baffle pane. The blind headrail (15) is invisibly integrated into the add-on frame (12) without reducing the glass cut-out of the window. The advantage is the protected cavity for the installation of high-quality mirror light control systems (13), which perform significantly better than the usual external sun protection. This window optimisation is suitable for new buildings as well as for the renovation of existing windows (10) and enables g-values of lower than 0.05 with horizontal slats and high summer sunlight incidence as well as an improvement in the U-value and transparency.
The key design feature of the double-skin façade is the patented rapid installation of an inner pane. It is fixed by anchoring via the locking rail (100), which slides over the upper front edge of the inner pane (101) and hooks into a hook profile (102) of a louvre head rail (103). At the bottom, the pane sits on the frame profile via a U-shaped seal. A U-shaped rubber profile is also used on the long edges, which is pressed against the sides of the posts and seals the cavity (105). Warm, humid air is expelled upwards when the sun enters. A RetroLux daylight blind with a 25-mm or 75-mm slat width is recommended as a sun and glare protection measure, which guarantees the working and shading functions in the horizontal slat position and ensures the entry of daylight and the view to the outside.
