As part of the NEERO-Façcade project, an ultra-light, highly transparent secondary façade with a filigree design for double-skin façades has been developed in collaboration between the Institute of Building Construction at TU Dresden, KRD Coatings GmbH and Priedemann Facade-Lab GmbH. This is suitable for new buildings as well as for energy-efficient upgrades and the protection of high-quality existing buildings. To achieve maximum transparency, the filigree structural design of the secondary façade is made of weight-optimised thin glass-plastic hybrid panels (NEERO-GLAS®). The use of bonding technology is of central importance here.
As an innovative lightweight construction product, thin glass-plastic hybrid panels are characterised by a lightweight transparent plastic core made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with outer cover layers made of scratch-resistant thin glass. These components are bonded by direct polymerisation in a cast resin bonding process. The demonstrator for glasstec 2024 shows the lightweight elements and how they are attached to the substructure.
