On a special area glasstec will again show the top innovations for the glass processing trade in practical application. The motto this year is: WorldSkills of the trades. WorldSkills Germany@glasstec is the performance competition for non-academic professions, for participants up to 23 years of age. The competition is organized by the Bundesinnungsverband des Glaserhandwerks e.V., the Verband der Jungglaser and the Fensterbauer e.V..
Young glaziers are inspired to develop a passion for skills and the pursuit of excellence through competitions and sponsorships. Winners can secure their ticket to EuroSkills 2023 here.
The participants of the competition
Maximilian Kröger
Because the police took too long to respond to his application, Maximilian got an apprenticeship in a glazier's shop through a friend of his parents. In 2019, he successfully completed his training and achieved first place in the national performance competition. Since 2020, he has been attending the Staatliche Glasfachschule in Hadamar in order to graduate here in 2022 as a state-certified glass technician, as well as earning his master's title. Maximilian is particularly looking forward to the "Worldskills Germany @glasstec" competition, where he wants to test his limits, both physically and mentally. Maximilian is determined to compete in Düsseldorf in order to win this competition.
Denis Dukic
After graduating from high school, Denis spent a year in Australia with work&travel. Here he was able to get a first impression of working in construction. These positive memories of working with his hands then moved Denis to start an apprenticeship as a glazier in Offenbach am Main in 2020. The work with the medium glass fascinated him from the beginning, Denis especially likes that he can live out his creativity in the craft and at the end of the day he has made people happy. In 2022, he will not only successfully complete his training, but also demonstrate his skills as a participant in the "WorldSkills Germany@ glasstec".
Benjamin Bak
At the age of fourteen, Benjamin already helped out in the glass processing department of his parents' company. After graduating from high school, he then trained there as a journeyman glassmaker and was awarded first place in the performance competition of the state of Lower Saxony. He is currently attending the master craftsman course in Hadamar. After the master craftsman's examination, Benjamin will tackle an additional business management training course. His drive is to pass on the exciting profession of glazier to future generations with the necessary heart and soul. Presenting the versatility of this profession and participating in fair competition is Benjamin's greatest joy. He will be happy to demonstrate his craft talent at Worldskills Germany.
Oliver Pries
Oliver was involved in his parents' glazier business from an early age. He enjoyed working in the trade from an early age, but after graduating from high school, Oliver wanted to enter the IT industry in the hardware sector. He spent the time between graduating from high school and starting his apprenticeship helping out in the family business, which was founded in 1850. The outstandingly good working atmosphere between Oliver and the employed journeymen then convinced him to switch to the glazier trade. In the 2021 state competition, Oliver took first place in Schleswig-Holstein, and shortly afterwards he transferred to the master school in Hadamar. Oliver is looking forward to the "WorldSkills Germany@glasstec" competition; he would like to use this stage, on the one hand, to know how well he has mastered his craft and, on the other, to expand his network. For his professional future, Oliver would like to get to know a few other glazier companies and expand his skills before joining the family business.
Philipp Pfeiler
"The glazier trade inspired me from day 1 and it still does. My goal is to continue to inspire people about our craft with my work and knowledge."
Philipp Pfeiler won the qualification in Austria to participate as a representative of the Austrian team at EuroSkills 2023.
