Successful restart 
World’s leading trade fair underlines its relevance in the “International Year of Glass”

glasstec has clearly underscored its relevance for the global glass industry with its restart as a face-to-face trade fair after the pandemic induced break. In the “International Year of Glass”, the 936 exhibitors from 47 countries impressively demonstrated to 30,000 visitors from 119 countries the operational excellence of the sector. In focus were the global trend topics Climate, Resource Efficiency, Urbanisation, Value and Well-Being but also current challenges such as high energy costs, supply chain bottlenecks or skilled labour shortage.

Fred Aker, VP of Sales and Marketing, paneratech, Chantilly, USA

Mr. Aker has been working in the glass industry since the 1980s. glasstec has accompanied him at all stages of his career. He particularly enjoys his current job. He reports: "Our service is unrivaled. We offer radar technology for refractory monitoring for the glass industry."  The benefit of the application is, for example, a reliable prediction of the quality of a furnace bottom for up to two years. This creates predictability and safety. Mr. Aker continues, "We expanded with our innovation during Corona. Now, after numerous digital meetings, we finally meet in person."

The visitors come from Belgium and are personally at glasstec for the first time. The Belgian company manufactures refractory monolithic products for the glass industry. Mariana Munoz is positive about glasstec: "It is very pleasant and productive, the organization of the fair is good. The international mix of exhibitors and visitors is important to us." Tobias Dyck adds: "CO2 reduction and the high energy costs are the top topics at the moment. I estimate our industry to be crisis-proof and glasstec is a good proof for that."
