Associate, Architect, RPBW (Renzo Piano Building Workshop)
Carla Baumann was born near Stuttgart in Germany and graduated in architecture at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Since joining the RPBW team in Paris in 2013 she has been working on the project Parkapartments Belvedere in Vienna, Austria before joining the team of the Float Building in Düsseldorf, Germany which, from 2018 on she accompanied until completion in a project management role. Subsequently she worked on projects of different scales and currently oversees the reconstruction of a ropeway station in the Mont-Blanc Massif. Carla became an Associate of RPBW in 2019.
Bernard Plattner
Fellow, Architect, RPBW (Renzo Piano Building Workshop)
Bernard Plattner was born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1946. He studied architecture at ETH in Zürich and started working with Piano & Rogers on the Pompidou Center. Since then, he has continued to work with Renzo Piano in the Paris office. He became a Partner in 1989. A sampling of his notable projects includes: the Rue de Meaux Housing in Paris, the Beyeler Foundation Museum in Basel, the reconstruction of the Potsdamer Platz area in Berlin, the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern and the New York Times Building. As a recent and notable project, he was in charge of the construction of the Paris Courthouse and the completion of the ENS (Ecole Normale Supérieure) near Paris. As a partner and fellow of RPBW, he was responsible for a number of large scale projects in Europe: a mixed-use development in Vienna, the Float office building in Düsseldorf. He also supported the start of the Valletta City Gate and Parliament Building (Malta), of the Maison de l’Ordre des Avocats in Paris.
