From ultra-thin to XXL: glasstec 2018 presents the latest on glass as a material

Glasses that expand your scope of design:
Secure first-hand knowledge at first hand

,

The development of the float glass process has changed architecture and construction forever; glass has become affordable. At the same time, panes in larger formats could be produced. Meanwhile, formats of 18 metres in length are feasible and glass manufacturers are competing for ever larger XXL glasses. But not only "true size" is a trend. Glass is becoming thinner and thinner, opening up completely new possibilities in the fields of architecture and construction.

Only glasstec 2018 will show you the theory and practice of such developments to this extent - for example at the scientific conference "engineered transparency" on 25 and 26 October. Among others, Chris McVoy of Steven Holl Architects will speak on "Against the Thin Skin, Glass as Thick Materiality of Light" and Daniel Arztmann of Schüco International, Detmold School of Architecture and Interior Architecture will address "Climate Change and its Influence on Glazed Curtain Wall Design".

The International Architecture Congress on 25 October will also feature exciting topics. These include the renowned architect Lina Ghotmeh with her lecture "Reflecting time, the architecture of the future" and Daniel Vos from Heintges Consulting Architects & Engineers, P.C., New York/US. Heintges was a facade consultant at the Nike flagship store in New York. Daniel Vos will present this project under the title "Nike Flagship Facade – Innovative Glass in New York City".
