tube-inspector: Automated measurement of tubular targets and magnetrons/magnetbars

The tube-inspector is an automatic "tube measurement" system for the fast and precise determination of geometric parameters of tubular targets and magnetrons/magnetbars. The tube inspector is a special development for the analyzis of coated pipes and tubes (e.g. rotational targets) before and during the production process. It generates information about the quality of the process and lifetime of the measuring object. The tube-inspector determines different parameters, such as the diameter, the ellipticity and the magnetic field.

Optical diameter evaluation:
Perfect glass coating processes also require high quality tubular targets and magnetrons/magnetbars. Other tube measurement techniques detect the properties of tubular targets (as diameter and elipticity) in most cases with low accuracy. The tube-inspector operates fast and reliable. This device identifies the target's geometries production-related, cable-free and automated. In addition, the magnetic field of the magnetic systems on the surface of the measuring object can be determined simultaneously. The data is stored securely on a SD card.

layer-tester: For Float Glass Coatings

Float glass is being produced in large amounts. Various interwoven processes cause a huge complexity that requires efficient transitions. Subject to inefficiencies mostly are operations that can not or just with high expenses be automated. Within the float glass production this issue often occurs when the respective preliminary product is transferred to the subsequent step.

The layer-tester was developed to distinguish between the respective float glass coatings. The device works with two different resistance values and determines the float glass coating fast and precisely. In this way the operator is able to process the glass preliminary product fast and safely to the next production step. As handheld and battery driven device the layer-tester is intuitive to apply. Two measurement tips need to get contact to the glass target. The measurement result is divided into the predefined resistance ranges of 0 to 15 Ωsq (low resistance) and 22 to 60 Ωsq (high resistance) that can be adjusted.

m-cat: Magnetron / Magnet Bar Analysis for Sputtering Units

Rotating magnetrons or adjustable magnet bars within the sputtering process for float glass coating are measured and analyzed exactly with the m-cat system. Defective magnetrons / magnet bars are identified early and reliably, the homogeneity of the layer thickness will be increased and a sputtering-through can be avoided.

The m-cat improves

• the process reliability, since new magnetrons are subject to an incoming inspection to identify material defects
• the homogeneity of the layer thickness, since adjustable magnetrons can be controlled and finished magnetrons can be easily combined

The Matesy GmbH is an innovative technology company located in the center of the university town of Jena. The company was founded in 2008 as a spin-off of the R&D institution “INNOVENT Technology Development” and specializes in the visualization, characterization and generation of magnetic fields. We are able to characterize magnetrons and tubular targets for sputtering units very accurately. The systems determine the most important parameters, such as diameter, ellipticity and deflection to ensure high reliability. With this our systems provide help for adjustable magnetrons, regardless of the manufacturer. Moreover our Layer Tester allows the differentiation of the different coatings of float glass .
