EPB-L™ External Press Bending System for Annealing Automotive Safety Glass

Glasstech’s EPB-L is a highly productive, energy-efficient system for the production of bent and annealed windshields and backlites suitable for lamination. The system meets OEM requirements for high quality and precise tolerances and, because it uses only a single tool set, significant energy savings.

EPB-L offers glass processors major advantages – greater productivity, economical tooling and lower energy usage – compared to traditional methods of bending windshield and sidelite glass for laminating.

EPB-L has excellent credentials for productivity, glass shaping accuracy, high yield and moderate tool cost. As the industry demands ever-increasing tolerances to address the introduction of new windshield wiper technology, heads-up display and camera systems, the Glasstech EPB-L can meet the requirements and give the user significant cost savings through lower processing costs.

EPB-T™ External Press Bending & Tempering System

Glasstech’s EPB-T is an innovative, highly versatile glass bending and tempering system designed for manufacturers of automotive glass sidelites, backlites and sunroofs. The system satisfies OEM demand for complex shapes with superior optical quality, while also meeting the need for greater productivity, economical tooling and lower energy usage.

EPB-T has established new glass industry standards for quality, bending accuracy and productivity for sidelite production in Europe, the United States and Asia. In addition, the system has achieved the strict optical performance requirements of Audi/Volkswagen and the demanding shape tolerances of BMW.

The particular merits of the EPB-T are press-bending with a full surface mold and full periphery female ring, fast transfer from heater to quench and a FanRoll option, which pre-bends relevant parts in the heater, reducing subsequent bender cycle time and permitting lower exit temperatures.

The EPB-T is available in narrow form for single stream sidelites or wider form for backlites, dual stream sidelites and larger rooflites.

DBX-T™ Deep Bend Advanced High Capacity Bending & Tempering System

Glasstech’s DBX-T is Glasstech’s next generation automotive glass bending and tempering process.   The DBX is an innovative, energy efficient glass bending and tempering system that can process complex shapes to tight tolerances with excellent optics.  DBX glass typically has 30 percent better transmitted optics on complex-shaped glass when compared to other processes.

The DBX-T System is also a high capacity system and, in its highest capacity configuration, can process complex backlites at cycle rates as low as 10 seconds, which lowers the operating cost to process a backlite.

Compared to the latest DB4 technology, DBX provides the following advantages:

•     Higher glass quality
•     Yield improvement
•     Less cloth changes
•     Extended mold cloth life

The DBX-T is available in both a 10 second version and a 12 second version.
