Venture Capital

IFC's Venture Capital group invests in ventures and growth stage companies that offer innovative technologies or business models geared at emerging markets. Our focus verticals are healthcare, edu-tech, internet —including ecommerce—and clean-tech. By executing transactions at an earlier stage than IFC’s more traditional business, we enhance the organization's strong commitment to innovation, supporting local businesses, and accelerating cross-border technology transfers.
With one of the largest footprints in emerging markets, we offer local knowledge, connections to a global network of other clients and portfolios, as well as an understanding of regulations and local domains. We aim to be a long-term partner to the ventures we support—with growth and expansion capital, sector knowledge, and our global expertise and presence.

Asset Management

We mobilize and invest capital in sustainable companies in emerging markets for attractive returns and impact

IFC Asset Management Company invests alongside IFC, our owner and part of the World Bank Group, in high potential companies and infrastructure projects across Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia.

Our relationship with IFC gives us access to a pipeline of opportunities generated by IFC’s 3,800-strong team and its unparalleled global footprint of 100 offices across the developing world.

We invest via a range of regional, sector focused and funds-of-funds on behalf of our investors, who include leading sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and development finance institutions.

We have a disciplined and rigorous process for making investment and portfolio decisions. Each of our funds has a stand-alone investment team with fiduciary responsibility to our investors.

Our investors also draw confidence from the fact that the capital we invest does a lot more than simply generate strong financial returns. It also improves the lives of millions of people who live and work in emerging market countries.

About us

Company details

We work with the private sector in developing countries to create markets that open up opportunities for all.
IFC—a sister organization of the World Bank and member of the World Bank Group—is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in developing countries. The Bank Group has set two goals for the world to achieve by 2030: end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in every country.
We leverage our products and services—as well as products and services of other institutions across the World Bank Group—to create markets that address the biggest development challenges of our time. We apply our financial resources, technical expertise, global experience, and innovative thinking to help our clients and partners overcome financial, operational, and other challenges.
IFC is also a leading mobilizer of third-party resources for projects. Our willingness to engage in difficult environments and our leadership in crowding-in private finance enable us to extend our footprint and have a development impact well beyond our direct resources.
Our projects and programs are evaluated by the Independent Evaluation Group. Accountability is ensured by the independent Office of the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman.
