VA INDIGO - Digital Solutions for Glass Coating

With VA INDIGO, we will assist you in digitalizing your workflows in connection with the machine operation - from installation and training to operation, maintenance, troubleshooting as well as service and support.

The world is getting more and more digital and the industry with it – a development that is often referred to as Industry 4.0.

One aspect of Industry 4.0 is the digitalization and networking of machines, logistics, periphery systems and resources based on collecting, analyzing and transferring data. This will enable the optimization of not just one production step but a complete value chain - thereby facilitating new modes of operation and new ways of producing goods more flexibly. Furthermore, it will open new ways of providing products and services.

Based on this worldwide development, VON ARDENNE will support customers in fulfilling future requirements such as autonomy, connectivity, productivity, predictability and flexibility – and help you enter the next era of production.

With our experience of more than 60 years in PVD technology and PVD equipment manufacturing, we know our machines and components from A to Z and how to use the generated data. This know-how in combination with our expertise in engineering, machine and system design as well as individual services has led to our new digital product and service portfolio: VA INDIGO.

GC120VCR Glass Coating System

The VON ARDENNE GC120VCR is a carrier-based vertical inline coating system for the deposition of metal and oxide thin-film multilayer systems on flat glass substrates or other materials. The substrate transport is carrier-based and the system features a carrier return system.
As a leading developer and manufacturer of vacuum coating equipment for large-area applications, VON ARDENNE has incorporated its broad knowledge and expertise in PVD technologies into the GC120VCR platform. The reliability of this system is well proven in the PV industry.

VA PROCOS 2 Process Control System

Since 1980, VON ARDENNE has been in a leading position in reactive sputtering processes. Furthermore, we have provided and optimized our process control system VA PROCOS for many years.

Our current VA PROCOS 2 controls the reactive magnetron sputtering of compound layers (such as ITO, TiO2, TiN, Al2, O3, AlN, SnO2, SiO2, Si3N4, ZnO, ZrO or Ta2O5) and reliably fixes the working points in the crucial transition region. Furthermore, the system controls one or more reactive gas inlets (e.g. oxynitrides).

RDM/RDMT Magnetrons

RDM rotatable dual magnetrons are suitable for a wide scope of AC or DC processes with a power range from 10 to 180 kilowatts. They can be equipped with a variety of magnet designs and offer a fully integrated gas inlet system for the best process control performance.

RDMT - T-Series-Magnetrons: VON ARDENNE has combined the magnetron sputter source technology with turbomolecular pumps to create a new key component class - the T-Series Magnetrons.

VISS Vertical Glass Coating System

The vertical inline sputter system VISS is an appropriate, modular solution for vertical deposition processes when scaling up from laboratory use to production. The tool is available either as a single end inline or for continuous processing and is uniquely suited for scaling up to substrate sizes of up to 600 mm x 2400 mm.

The substrates are transported by a carrier system, which is tilted vertically by seven degrees. The substrates can be loaded without touching their front side.

About us

Company portrait

VON ARDENNE was founded in 1991 as a spin-off of the Manfred von Ardenne Research Institute in Dresden. The technological principles and components which are vital to our current success had been developed and steadily improved by this institute since 1955. Read more about our company history.
Over 50 years of experience with electron beam processes and more than 40 years of competence in magnetron technology make VON ARDENNE a leading provider of glass coating systems and equipment for thin-film photovoltaics. This technology competence is used in all our products and guarantees that our customers receive reliable systems for their production.
VON ARDENNE relies on an international network with subsidiaries in China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan and the USA, in addition to our headquarters in Dresden, Germany.
At VON ARDENNE, we adhere strictly to the values which provided the basis for the work of Manfred von Ardenne - scientific meticulousness and curiosity, the constant search for innovative technical solutions, quality awareness, sustainable activity and reliability.
